The latest DT Max program update is now available for downloading. It features the T1/TP 1 program for tax years 1997 to 2007 inclusively.

Please note that T1 version 11.01 supports paper filing but does not support efile transmission due to its early release date. The efile module will be integrated to the next version of DT Max that will be stamped 11.10 and made available on CD-Rom and via www.drtax.ca to all DT Max users. This will take place as soon as we receive all relevant certifications towards the end of January or early February 2008.

Furthermore, please be advised that this issue is an abridged version of the standard What's New release notes as it only provides a basic recap of changes implemented. Detailed keyword and tax change information will be released with version 11.10 of DT Max T1.

About your DT Max licence key

As this release inaugurates a new production year, a valid licence key must be installed in order to have access to the latest calculation modules for DT Max T1, that is to say for years 2007 and 2008 respectively. If the registered licence key is expired, the following warning message will be displayed on the start up screen:

For an invalid DT Max T1 licence key:

"DT Max will run in "demo"" mode until a licence key is entered.
You will be able to enter data and review returns, but you will
not be able to file them with the government."

    Technical changes

The new QuickTrack feature makes the fields of the tax return multi-functional and provides the user with flexibility in preparing and auditing the return. QuickTrack allows the user to "source" amounts appearing on the return by clicking through to the applicable schedules and forms -- and ultimately the original keyword entry. By allowing users to quickly find and employ the precise entry point or keyword, QuickTrack also facilitates research of the return field from the DT Max Knowledge Base, the CRA’s guides and the CICA’s Ernst and Young Line-by-Line guide online. Finally, QuickTrack enables the user to override amounts calculated by DT Max directly on the tax return field and then adjusts the data entry (keywords) accordingly.

As a result of the implementation of the QuickTrack feature, a mouse right-click on the tax return is no longer displaying the page selection index, instead DT Max will provide you with a list that mainly includes:

      Go to source (F6)
      Source keywords (F8)
      Override this field (Ctrl+F2)
      Help for this field (Ctrl+F8)
      Show/hide index (F12)

Note that if an option is greyed out, it is not available for that particular field.
